Justin Schoener and Outlaw Off-Road of Texas

“If you have had the opportunity to travel down John Stockbauer you may have noticed a new large red building near the Mockingbird intersection.
This is the new home of Outlaw Off-Road of Texas.

Justin Schoener is the owner of Outlaw Off-Road and business is booming.  Although the location is new, the business has been around for quite some time. Schoener started Outlaw Off-Road in 1999.  This new location broke ground this summer with a HUGE ground breaking ceremony that included the King Krunch Monster truck doing doughnuts on the ground, literally “breaking ground” on June 6, 2016.  Schoener however has been modifying trucks and jeeps since he was 15 years old.  With the purchase of his first truck at the age of 15, little did Schoener know that this was the beginning of his dream job.  Throughout high school, Schoener went through five or six vehicles, fixing them up, selling them and buying something better or newer.  After high school, Schoener pursued a technical degree and then later a business degree but his passion for the trucks grew until his passion developed into a full time business.  Born and raised in Victoria, Schoener is a 1996 graduate of St. Joseph High School.

Outlaw Off-Road of Texas takes pride in being able to outfit some of the cleanest trucks and SUVs in South Texas.  From its small beginnings 17 years ago in his parents’ backyard shop to now, Outlaw Off-Road has built a reputation of excellence in product delivery and customer service.  Customers from Corpus Christi, Houston and San Antonio utilize the services of Outlaw Off-Road as well as local truck and SUV owners throughout the Crossroads.  Schoener attributes his success to the influence and support he has received from his parents (Norman and Carolyn Schoener), grandparents (the late Oscar and Helen Welfel), family and friends who have encouraged him along the way.

OutlawOff-Road specializes in suspension lift kits, tires and wheels for trucks, jeeps and SUVs.  Moving into the new 8000 square foot facility on October 1, Outlaw Off-Road now has the capacity to work on four or five vehicles at a time with four employees.  The added space also allows for an impressive showroom displaying more accessories for off road vehicles such as bumpers, brush guards, gooseneck hitches and LED lighting. “Anything under the truck, we can handle.” states Schoener.  Depending on the job, Outlaw Off-Road can have a basic job done between 2-3 hours or in a day.  They correlate the business as a “one stop shop” getting all the basic needs done on site.

“Everybodyknows that we are very particular about every truck we touch.” states Schoener. “We’re about customer service and one of my goals is that I want a truck or SUV to ride better than stock…We do a lot of new car dealership builds, as well.  Anybody that wants aftermarket parts financed into their new truck package, we can handle it, as we work with a lot of dealerships around here. We can do all the lifts, tires, wheels, bumpers etc. all financed into their new truck…I’m constantly learning. We are fully versed in knowing exactly what it takes to get a job done.  I do a lot of research, period, because this is my passion.”

Future plans?  Schoener stated that he has plans to get more involved in the community and has recently joined the Chamber of Commerce. He also stated that additional locations for his business are also goals that he has.

For those who would like to see their passion become their dream job, Schoener advises, “Stay true to your roots and don’t give up…Set goals of what you want and then work your hardest to achieve them.”  Schoener is newly married to his wife of two years, Becky.  He also has a wonderful 12 year old step-daughter, Taylor who is following in Schoener’s footsteps with an interest in trucks and lift kits.
